Tech Coast AngelsCONNECT provides program management for the San Diego Tech Coast Angels (SD TCA). SD TCA is a group of private investors who invest in and assist southern Californian companies. The group acts as the San Diego network for the Southern California-based Tech Coast Angels organization, which is the largest and most active angel network in the country. TCA has five regional networks in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Santa Barbara / Westlake Village and the Inland Empire. SD TCA operates its own independent Board while working cooperatively with the other TCA networks in reviewing investment opportunities at monthly Screening Sessions. Members are interested in companies that have the potential to rapidly scale into market and financial leadership. This usually implies potential for high growth, strong market position, and sustainable advantage. The SD TCA also runs a Seed Track Screening program that links promising early stage companies with TCA members. In this program, members provide limited seed capital and take an active role in the company. Additional information about the TCA organization and typical investment criteria can be found at www.techcoastangels.com. “TCA was instrumental in many ways in helping us get started," said Lee Corkran, Founder and CEO of BrightQube, a new online creative resource for digital media. "We knew we had a market, and a team, and the technology magic to create something big; TCA really helped us get going with their new Seed Track funding. And they've continued to help along the way in support and in gaining further funding. The guidance and mentoring from these seasoned business pros has really been of great assistance in building a valuable business. They've made all the difference between having a dream and having a business. They understand what drives the entrepreneurial spirit.” Lee CorkranFounder and CEO “The Tech Coast Angels is an important part of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in San Diego. For VOZ Sports they provided the seed capital that allowed us to build a communications helmet that had application in multiple sports. The group also provided board expertise that included brand building, capital and commercialization support. Our company now has revenue and 2008 preseason orders from specialty retailers that include REI. I can definitively say we would not have achieved what we did without the contributions of TCA. ” David SheehanPresident and CEO Program Contact:
