This discussion will focus on the rapidly changing legal and regulatory landscape facing businesses as it relates to data privacy and cybersecurity. The discussion will look at key aspects of the GDPR, California’s new privacy law, and trending cybersecurity frameworks that businesses can employ to mitigate risk and liability. The discussion will also look at different ways data privacy and cybersecurity may be implicated in every-day business operations, including with the collection of employee data and the use of AI tools in internal and external facing solutions, and how businesses can employ simple solutions to build a robust “privacy and cyber” culture in the workplace.

Peter Stockburger is a senior managing associate at Dentons, and focuses his practice on the unique intersection between cybersecurity, privacy, and employment law. Peter regularly counsels clients on cutting-edge legal issues, such as cybersecurity and enterprise risk mitigation and creating a cyber-secure work “culture.” Peter also defends clients in state and federal court on all matters of commercial and employment litigation. In addition to his work for the firm, Peter is also an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego School of Law where he teaches in the area of oral advocacy, international law, and cyber law.
