President Obama recently signed the bipartisan JOBS Act into law proclaiming, "...this bill is a potential game changer" for start-ups and small businesses.
In order to help San Diego's innovators get a head start on the multiple new ways to access capital provided by the JOBS Act, CONNECT in partnership with Allen Matkins, Ernst & Young and ROTH Capital Partners presents a Timely Topics workshop on the JOBS Act—New Ways to Raise Capital under the JOBS Act.
The JOBS Act provides new and expanded opportunities for start-up and emerging companies to access capital. One provision gives legislative direction to the SEC to establish rules enabling the use of crowdfunding financing by start-up companies. The JOBS Act provides greater access to SEC Regulation A by increasing the cap for offerings that qualify for simplified registration from $5 million to $50 million annually. The Act also establishes an IPO "on ramp" for companies that qualify as "emerging growth companies," which should facilitate access to the public markets more efficiently than provided under the current regulatory framework.
This workshop will equip entrepreneurs, investors, and others involved in capital formation with the insights and knowledge needed to give participants an edge in the new legal and regulatory landscape Congress and the President created.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
In-house counsel, executives, CEOs, CFOs, tech transfer officials, executives, attorneys, industry members, entrepreneurs, later-stage private companies, angel investors, academia, service providers engaged in the emerging growth community and senior management in the technology, research, venture capital, clean energy, IT and biotech sectors.
