CONNECT S.I.’s inaugural Capital Forum attracted applications from more than 50 emerging companies from all segments of the sport and active lifestyle community. From this initial pool, the applications were vetted through an additional two rounds of selection committee meetings. The finalists include:

Malama manufactures plant-based composite materials that are incorporated into a variety of sports products, such as surfboards, kiteboards, wakeboards, boats and yachts, as well as other products.
RGI North America dba Rhythm (www.rhythmlivin.com)
Based on its successful Australian business, Rhythm designs, manufactures and wholesales specialist surf apparel to specialist retail outlets across the United States.

Loop'd Network is the largest online network for action sports, including motocross, skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing and BMX.
SportsForce (www.thesportstv.com)
SportsForce (currently DBA TheSportsTV.com) offers an optimized sports career development platform to greatly increase athletic scholarship opportunities, improve student-athletes preparation for college success and better manage their amateur sports careers online.
The Collegiate Bicycle Company (www.collegebikes.com)
The Collegiate Bicycle Company has developed a way to automate bicycle rental transactions and track bicycles using RFID tracking technology by providing an inexpensive on-demand bicycle to ride without the burden of maintenance.
These companies will have received coaching from CONNECT Springboard EIRs before being given an opportunity to pitch their business vision to a room of potential investors on June 16 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Downtown San Diego. While invitations are still being extended to VCs and potential investors, the current confirmed attendees include representatives from: Monarch Venture Partners, Steelpoint Capital Partners, Raptor Fund, Express Ventures, T2 Venture Capital, Huntington Capital, Capital Window, Flashpoint Sports and Entertainment, Overture Equity Advisors, and numerous angel investors.
